Every slot settled before lock

AI Start/Sit Advice for Fantasy

Ask who to start and the assistant gives a call for each slot in question, the reason from your own scoring and roster, and a flag on any slot already locked for this lineup period.

League Loom reads the roster, settings and player status your provider returns; you set the lineup yourself.

Both listed active. Review their expected workloads and matchups if you need flex cover.

Follow Jones's recovery and practice updates before the next eligible lineup period. Rachaad White is another active bench option. An active injury designation does not establish workload or make one of them the automatic replacement.

Burrow occupies quarterback and Darnold superflex. Jefferson, Godwin and Douglas occupy your receiver slots. Confirm Sleeper's lock and AutoSub rules before any change; this recorded check does not establish that a player can be moved now.

How a weekly lineup check goes

The correct lineup slot

Confirm the team, sport, season and eligible positions. A player on another team or in another league cannot fill this slot.

Returned scoring and status

Read the scoring rules and available player status. Treat missing injury, bye or projection fields as unknown, not as proof a player is healthy or active.

Locked slots, in every sport

Rosters come back with a lineup period and a per-player lock state of locked, unlocked or unverified. A locked starter cannot be swapped for that period, and unverified is not permission to move: it means the state was never established. Daily, weekly and custom periods all differ by league.

Injury labels are evidence, not a timeline

ESPN's native injury feeds supplement provider labels for NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, and each report carries its own retrieval and report time. A designation does not establish when an injury happened or whether a player will suit up.

Current outside research

Check breaking news and real-world schedules separately when needed. Explain how those sources affect the recommendation, and make the final change in your fantasy app.

From your league to your AI tool

1

Add League Loom to your AI tool

Add https://leagueloom.com/mcp as a remote connector in Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client. Setup is easiest on a computer; once it is added, you can ask from Claude's phone app before lock. ChatGPT runs custom apps on the web only.

2

Select the team you set

Connect ESPN, Sleeper or Fantrax in the setup wizard and select your team in each league, so the assistant compares only players on your roster.

3

Ask about one slot

Copy a start/sit prompt on this page and name the slot or the players you are torn between. Recheck before lineup lock if a status came back questionable.

Worked example

One flex slot, two candidates

Illustrative example using Player A and Player B. These are fictional options, not current player recommendations.

  1. Check eligibility

Suppose Player A is on your bench and eligible for the open flex slot. Player B is rostered in a different league. Only A can fill this team's slot without a separate transaction.

  2. Check the missing evidence

Suppose A has a questionable flag and no current projection was returned. Ask the assistant to check current news, or supply a source. Missing news is a reason to defer the call, not assume A will play.

  3. Explain and confirm

Ask for the safer eligible alternative, the scoring assumptions and what news would change the answer. Recheck before lineup lock, then set your lineup in the provider app.

More about this connection

A useful lineup answer begins with your selected team and scoring rules. League Loom retrieves the roster, settings and player information available from that provider; your assistant weighs the options.

A fantasy matchup is not a real-world NFL game schedule. For breaking news, real-world matchups or unavailable projections, use a separate current source and identify it.

Sleeper league projections require an explicit regular-season NFL week and sufficient projected-stat coverage; partial results and missing rules are labeled. No current tool changes a lineup.

Fantasy football

Start 'em, sit 'em with AI for fantasy football

For an NFL lineup, the assistant reads your roster, scoring, eligible slots and each player's lock state for the lineup period, then gives a start or sit call for each slot you are unsure about, with the reason. ESPN returns its own projections, and Sleeper league projections are calculated for an explicit regular-season week; Fantrax does not return league-scored projections. Anything missing, like breaking injury news, should be researched separately and labeled.

One call per uncertain slot

Name the slot or the players you are torn between. The answer should compare only players on your roster who are eligible for that slot.

Locked means locked

A starter already locked for this lineup period cannot be swapped, and an unverified lock is not permission to move. The assistant plans around both.

Projections with a source

ESPN projections come from ESPN. Sleeper league projections cover an explicit regular-season week, with partial coverage labeled. Everything else is research the assistant should cite.

Illustrative example with fictional players. It shows the shape of an answer, not current advice or a recorded league.

You askStart Receiver A or Running Back B in my flex this week?

Example answer

Both are on your roster and flex-eligible, and neither is locked yet. Your league scores full PPR.

Receiver A has the higher projection returned for this week and no injury designation. Running Back B is listed questionable, so his status is uncertain rather than healthy.

Start Receiver A. If Running Back B is cleared before kickoff, recheck, since that is the news that would change the call.

Make a start/sit call

Use League Loom to confirm my NFL team, season and lineup period. Read my roster, scoring, eligible slots and player lock states. Ask which decision I need if I have not named it. For each uncertain slot, compare eligible options and give a start/sit call with the reason. Keep locked slots unchanged; if a lock state is unknown, ask me to confirm it before suggesting a swap. Use projections only where returned, and cite current news or other research separately. Flag missing injury information. I will set the lineup myself.

What the call cannot see

  • Breaking news, weather or confirmed inactives. Check them separately.
  • A projection your provider did not return. Missing is unknown, not zero.
  • Your lineup itself. You set it in ESPN, Sleeper or Fantrax.

Basketball and hockey

Daily lineups in fantasy basketball and hockey

Basketball and hockey leagues often lock lineups daily rather than weekly. League Loom returns the lineup period and each player's lock state, so the assistant does not suggest a swap you cannot make.

It does not return full NBA or NHL game schedules, confirmed rest days or confirmed goalie starts, so a start or sit call that depends on who plays tonight needs current outside sources, cited separately.

Basketball

Compare eligible guards, forwards and centers for today's open slots using returned status, ESPN projections where they come back, and the games you confirm.

Hockey

Check goalie slots and any minimum first. A goalie helps only if he starts, so confirm the starter in current reporting before relying on him.

Check these elsewhere

  • Tonight's NBA or NHL schedule and confirmed rest days.
  • Confirmed goalie starts and line combinations.

Questions, answered

Does the AI use my league's scoring?

Ask it to load the scoring settings and roster slots through League Loom first. Have it identify missing rules and explain how your scoring affects the recommendation.

Does League Loom provide projections and breaking news?

Available fields vary by provider. Sleeper NFL league projections are calculated where source stats and scoring-rule coverage allow; partial or unavailable coverage is labeled. Ask your assistant to research breaking news and missing forecasts separately, with sources.

Can it change my lineup?

No. No League Loom tool can change a lineup. You confirm and make any lineup change in your fantasy platform.

What happens when a slot is already locked?

The roster returns a lineup period and a per-player lock state, so the assistant should say a locked starter cannot be changed for that period and plan the alternative for the next eligible one. An unverified lock is not a green light: it means the state was not established, so no swap should be recommended on it.

Can it check every league before kickoff?

Yes. A kickoff check across your connected teams prioritizes empty starting slots and flagged starters, then games starting within about 90 minutes, and lists same-position options from that league. Those options are candidates to review, not proven upgrades or guaranteed adds.

Can I check several leagues?

Yes. Connect supported leagues and identify your teams. Ask for a separate check for each team so eligibility and scoring do not get mixed together.

Is League Loom free?

Yes. The MCP server and connector are free, with no subscription and no per-league fee. Fair-use request budgets apply. Connect supported ESPN, Sleeper, and Fantrax leagues and ask questions from your AI tool.
